I was born and raised in St. Paul. I grew up in the Selby/Dale neighborhood.
My parents still reside in the house they bought when we were displaced by Highway 94.
I now live in East St. Paul with my husband and two children.
I graduated from Highland Park High School in 1978. I received my Bachelor of
Arts in Business Administration from Metropolitan State University in 1989.
I am currently enrolled at the University of St. Thomas to finish my Masters
in Business Administration.
I began working at 3M in 1980. The majority of my career was spent working
in the Controllers Department. I began as an Accounting Clerk and through
education and experience was promoted to a Cost Accountant. I began working
for Imation, a spin-off company of 3M, in 1997. I made a career shift and
took a job as a Pricing Negotiator for the Data Storage Division.
My combined 20 years with the two companies ended in a layoff in 2000.
I began working for Studio 4 Enterprises, a consultant to High School for
Recording Arts in 2002. High School for Recording Arts is a St. Paul charter
school serving mainly African-American and at-risk high school students.
Current, I am the Business Manager for the charter school with supervisor
responsibility for the Administration Team. My responsibilities include
tracking income and expenses, reporting on the school's financial situation
to its board, budget planning, and associated business-management functions.
